PAPERBOY HANDLEBAR CONTROLLER AND SPARE PARTS

Note:  All parts below are made within original Atari specification and will fit OEM equipment.  In other words, the complete handlebar controller will mount to an original Paperboy control panel and all of the individual parts on this page will fit original Atari handlebar controllers as well as the reproduction handlebar controller made by RAM Controls.  These parts are not manufactured, intended or tested to mount to any other reproduction controllers, only the reproduction handlebar controller made by RAM Controls and the OEM handlebar controller originally made by Atari. 

Cold rolled steel (CRS) frame with precision laser cutouts and powder coating, steel shafts with zinc plating, decorative nickel plating.  Upgraded Delrin gears, mil-spec potentiometers, precision springs and OEM light blue grips.  OEM flange bearings and OEM retaining rings.  All parts meet or exceed original Atari spec.  All components are 100% interchangeable with original handlebar controller. Note: Does NOT come with artwork.

Atari Part # A042935-01

Custom made USB interface adaptor for the Paperboy handlebar controller.  Plug and Play connectivity, simply plug controller into interface board and plug USB cable into M.A.M.E. computer.  Features support for dual axis (pitch-up/down and roll-right/left) analog controls and two momentary switches (right/left throw buttons).  The only complete plug and play USB solution for Paperboy handlebar controllers.  Includes 6ft USB cable.

Gear made from cast Delrin material and hub made from 6061 aluminum.  Mounts to shafts located in steering assembly frame and handle assembly frame and is used for up/down and left/right movement.  Gear formation is to exact Atari specifications, but materials have been upgraded and therefore exceed Atari specs.  Special attention was made to the upgrades of this specific part due to the extremely high failure rate of the OEM counterpart.

Gear made from cast Delrin material and hub made from 6061 aluminum.  Mounts to shafts located in steering assembly frame and handle assembly frame and is used for up/down and left/right movement.  Gear formation is to exact Atari specifications, but materials have been upgraded and therefore exceed Atari specs.

Part #:  040235-01

Mounts inside of handle assembly frame and steering assembly frame for up/down/left/right movement.  An extreme improvement to the original Allen-Bradley potentiometers used by Atari, these are absolutely top notch parts!  Meets or exceeds Military specification MIL-R-94 and has a rotational life of 1,000,000 cycles.  The smooth response and tracking from this part is simply amazing!  Replace those worn pots!  Price is for two pots with mounting nuts.

This is a brand new double hook torsion spring used in the handle assembly frame and the steering assembly frame for tension on up/down and left/right movement.  Parts made in-house within spec.  Price is for two large torsion springs.

This is a brand new single hook torsion spring used in the handle assembly frame and the steering assembly frame for tension on up/down and left/right movement.  Parts made in-house within spec.  Price is for two large torsion springs.

Attaches to steering assembly frame and handle assembly frame as well as bearing housings.  Made from powdered bronze, cast to spec and pre-lubed.  Must be press-fit into mating parts.  Price is for eight flange bearings.

Attaches to steering shaft and handle shaft to retain torsion springs.  Made from hardened steel and zinc plated gold, this part exceeds original Atari specifications.

Shaft mounted to handle assembly frame through each side, connected to handlebars for up/down movement.  Also mounted to rear of handle assembly frame, through steering assembly frame for left/right movement.  Made from hardened steel, ground to spec, machined, and zinc plated gold.  Meets original Atari specifications.  Note: Picture depicts part before zinc plating.

Machined Delrin.  Fits between handle assembly frame and steering assembly frame.  Upgraded material exceeds original Atari spec.

Precision laser cut and machined 1018 steel components, TIG welded.  Fits on steering shaft and handle shaft.  Upgraded material exceeds original Atari spec.

Custom light blue cast vinyl handle grips made by OEM who made grips for Atari.  These are essentially OEM parts, not reproductions.  These parts match original Atari specification in every detail.  Price is for two grips.

Part #:  178180-006

Reverse screened onto .010" polycarbonate, textured matte finish with 3M adhesive backing.  Made from original Atari artwork, colored matched to Atari spec.  Die cut from original Atari specification as well.  This is a modern day (superior) equivalent to the OEM decal.  Artwork is completely matched to OEM spec.

Part #:  042017-01

Custom made wire harness which plugs directly into OEM or reproduction controller wire harness.  2ft in length.  The other end has no connector, only a loose wire loom or "pigtail".  This will allow easy connection to interfaces used in M.A.M.E. setups without having to cut into the existing wiring harness.  This is useful for those who would like to keep their controllers 100% original.

Extend your controller wire harness by 2ft.  This will allow for easy connection into non-standard cabinets where additional wire length is required. This extension cable is compatible with the USB Interface board above.
